Anatomy of the Kingdom: Eyes
"Let us have eyes to see.”
“The eyes cannot see what the heart has not seen first.”
Word
Read the Following Verses Together:
- Genesis 1:10,12,18, Psalm 34:8, Mark 8:22-26, 1 Corinthians 13:12, Psalm 27:4
- What do these passages tell us about God’s eyes?
- What do these passages tell us about our own eyes?
- We need the Lord to move us from blindness to sight. When we are made able to see, we begin to see like Him.
- What does it mean to see?
World
God’s eyes see the world with imagination and hope. As God “rubs spit on our eyes” (Mark 8:22-26), our eyes are open to a new way of seeing.
- Our culture (both Christian and non-Christian) has a tendency to encourage us to lay aside imagination for what is efficient and practical. How have you seen this play out? Share examples.
- Our culture (both Christian and non-Christian) also has a tendency towards pessimism instead of hopefulness. How have you seen this play out? Share examples.
Us
- What are times in your life that you have been “blind”? How did that feel? What has been your experience of moving from blindness to sight?
- How has following Jesus given you a greater sense of imagination for life? In what areas?
- In what areas of your life is it still difficult to see (imagine) and hope for more? How can you invite the Lord to “spit on your eyes”?
- How can we lean on one another?
When a heart is transformed, we begin to see with the eyes of God.
